1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy describes how Vlad's Ventures, LLC ("Volumerix," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you install or use the Volumerix application (the "App") through the Shopify platform. By installing the App, you ("Merchant") agree to the practices described below.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Merchant Account Information

When you install the App, we automatically receive the following information from Shopify through the OAuth authentication process:

  • Your name and email address (as the store owner or collaborator)
  • Your Shopify store domain (e.g., your-store.myshopify.com)
  • Store currency and locale settings

2.2 App-Generated Data

As you use the App, we store the following data that you create or that the App generates:

  • Discount configurations — the volume discount rules, tiers, and product selections you create within the App
  • Widget theme and translation settings — your customization preferences for the storefront discount widget
  • Revenue attribution records — aggregate, order-level records of additional revenue generated by discounts (order ID, discount ID, revenue amount, and currency). These records do not contain customer personal information.
  • Subscription and plan status — your current billing plan within the App

2.3 Customer Data

The App may process limited, non-personal order data — such as order IDs, product IDs, quantities, and discount amounts — for the purpose of revenue attribution and discount performance tracking. This data is not linked to individual customers.

The discount logic runs entirely within Shopify's infrastructure (as a Shopify Function) and only accesses cart contents — product IDs and quantities — to calculate applicable discounts. It does not access customer names, email addresses, shipping addresses, payment information, or any other personally identifiable information.

The storefront widget displays discount tiers on your product pages. It does not set cookies, use local storage, or track individual customer behavior.

Data controller: As the Merchant, you are the data controller for your customers' personal information. Volumerix acts as a data processor on your behalf. If a customer contacts us with a data access, correction, or deletion request, we will direct them to you as the responsible party.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, operate, and maintain the App's functionality
  • Authenticate your identity and manage your App session
  • Process your subscription and manage billing through Shopify
  • Track revenue attribution so you can measure discount performance
  • Respond to your support requests
  • Comply with legal obligations

We do not use your information for advertising, marketing to your customers, or selling data to third parties.

4. Data Sharing and Third Parties

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for their marketing purposes.

Your data may be shared only in the following circumstances:

  • Shopify — The App operates within the Shopify platform and communicates exclusively with Shopify's APIs. Shopify's own privacy practices are governed by Shopify's Privacy Policy.
  • Hosting provider — The App is hosted on Vercel. Vercel processes data as a sub-processor on our behalf and is subject to its own Privacy Policy.
  • Legal requirements — We may disclose information if required by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request.

We do not use any third-party analytics, tracking, error monitoring, or advertising services.

5. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

The App uses a single session cookie (httpOnly) to maintain your authenticated session within the Shopify admin. This cookie is strictly necessary for the App to function and cannot be used to track you across other websites.

The storefront widget does not set any cookies or use any tracking technologies.

Our hosting provider may automatically collect standard server logs, which can include IP addresses, browser type, referring pages, and timestamps. These logs are used solely for infrastructure monitoring and security purposes and are not used to identify or track individual users.

6. Data Retention and Deletion

  • On uninstall: When you uninstall the App, your session data (including OAuth tokens and account information) is automatically deleted.
  • Discount configurations: Stored as Shopify metaobjects in your store and remain under your control. They are not deleted automatically on uninstall — you may remove them from your Shopify admin at any time.
  • Revenue records: Retained after uninstall for billing accuracy and reporting purposes. You may request deletion by contacting us.
  • Shopify compliance: When we receive a shop redact webhook from Shopify, we delete all remaining data associated with your store.

7. Data Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your information, including:

  • All data transmitted between the App and Shopify is encrypted via HTTPS/TLS
  • OAuth access tokens are stored securely in an encrypted database
  • The App requests only the minimum Shopify API scopes necessary for its functionality
  • No customer personal data is collected or stored, minimizing risk exposure

8. Your Rights (GDPR and Other Regulations)

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), the United Kingdom, or another jurisdiction with applicable data protection laws, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate information
  • Request deletion of your personal information
  • Restrict or object to the processing of your data
  • Request data portability

Legal basis for processing (GDPR): We process merchant account data on the basis of contractual necessity (to provide the App's services) and legitimate interest (to maintain revenue records for billing accuracy).

9. International Data Transfers

Our App is hosted on servers located in the United States. If you are accessing the App from outside the United States, please be aware that your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States. By using the App, you consent to this transfer.

10. Children's Privacy

The App is designed for use by Shopify merchants and is not directed at individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the App after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
